Lost

I am interested in the phenomenon of the urban environment produced through social experience. Every city serves basic human needs – it is warm, safe and creates one’s home and community. Today, however, cities have turned into infinite agglomerations wherein the social and architectural constructions also create disorder, alienation and loneliness. The series “Lost: Paris” is both documentary and autobiographical psychogeography that investigates the complicated relationships between human beings and their physical environment. The sense of being “lost” is a common feeling in the contemporary self-created urbanized environment. My travels through the city did not follow tourist attractions, but were aimless, without a destination in mind. I allowed the urban environment and its elements (buildings, signs, people, etc.) to “guide me”, becoming familiar with the environment. My experience of the urban environment is based in contemplative experiences at the basis of which lies a peculiar merging with the surroundings. I do not present a particular event in a specific space and time in the traditional editorial or documentary presentation of the subject. Instead I search for new methods of capturing the urban experiment —to construct subjective experience that present a fresh conceptual evaluation of the urban environment.
