Title: Neither Horse nor Tiger
The cities of the world are concentric, isomorphic, synchronic. Only one exists and you are always in the same one. It's the effect of their permanent revolution, their intense circulation, their instantaneous magnetism. Jean Baudrillard (2003) Cool Memories
This film seeks to uncover the connection between the chaos of accidents and the sublime, as brought forward by processes of urbanization. The film has been made as a part of a broader artistic research on China. In essence, it is an experimental and situational attempt to project the states of being of Chinese urban environment through the prisms of the mundane, the architecture and the landscape. The spectator is transported into the discourse of neon-lit architecture, construction works and a cacophony of sound. The soundtrack to the film has been made by recording the musical practices at the Shanghai Conservatory of Music.
